This poem is written from the perspective of the late Denis Thatcher on his relationship with Britain's most polarising Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher. Known for being media shy, Denis is finally given a voice to articulate the couple's first encounter, his wife's rise to power and subsequent reign in government.

It was going to be the summer of her life. Going to the One Direction Concert, to the Universal Studios and last but not least Ben’s 18th birthday party. But her whole plan of the upcoming year was about to change when her dad got dispatched. After goodbyes Sophie finds herself in cold rainy Ireland out on the countryside with the sullen neighbor’s boy Jay, who seems to dislike her for no reason. And spending the rest of the summer vacations with him is the last thing she needed now. Whilst Sophie tries to bad mouth everything around her she doesn’t notice that she’s falling for the old cottage, the beautiful countryside and maybe even more…
