Werner Steinbauer left his home in Bonn, Germany, nearly a decade ago. Well, not really by his own will. His foul-tempered cousin, Hanschen, gave him 10,000 euros the night he left, and told him to leave the country and to never return.
Werner is an interpreter for the London Police Department now and loves his job and his fiancé. His soured relationship with his family is the last thing on his mind until he receives a mysterious phone call - his older brother, Fabian, has unexpectedly died in a plane crash and Werner must return to Bonn ASAP.
Heidi Steinbauer is Werner's older sister and has too much on her plate to care about the whispers of her baby brother's return. She's already an acting bodyguard for her presidential cousin Hanschen and she's mourning her twin's death in solitude. The sudden excitement sprouting from her aunts and uncles and her plethora of her cousins about her brother's return seems nothing but uncalled for to her - he left by himself, why is he suddenly coming back?
But when Werner finally returns to the estate, and Heidi discovers the truth behind his departure, she begins to realize why the family is so ecstatic about his return - they're out for blood. Together, they must put aside their differences and unravel the mystery behind Fabian's untimely death and the web of lies that the Steinbauers have been weaving for centuries before time runs out for them both.
