While Tom's friends, led by Nikos, try to rescue him, Melinda forces Tom to drive her to the American Embassy in Bonn, and then releases him. No sooner have they survived this adventure than Tom and his friends, after a brief stopover in Libya, are sent to Cyprus where they are to find out who is behind the constant killings of Turkish Cypriots, which are destabilizing the country. In doing so, they come dangerously close to the EOKA-B terrorists, who, as it turns out, are being controlled by the Athens junta. The aim of the Greek regime is to have a pretext for annexing the island. A war between Turkey and Greece seems imminent. I would like to point out once again that this book is fiction, albeit based on intensive research into the historical context.
