in book 1- rouge had left to go on a mission that would last up to a year, Knuckles was left on Angel island heart broken. hoping his child,and Rouge would be ok. book 2- Rouge has returned, but has some new friends. while she was gone, Knuckles met an Echidna that stole his heart. the child of Knuckles,thinks shadow is his real father. (since in Book 1,Shadow went with Rouge to watch and to protect over her) Knuckles has grown a bit, maturity has taken its stand,and he was wiser. Although Knuckles has a little thing for this Echidna,he still loves his far away loved one. Rouge.
