Leila Blight-Noceda is often misunderstood by her parents Luz Noceda and Amity Blight. Leila's goal is to do something to make her parents proud, but as she searches for that she begins to uncover truth's about her life, and her magic.

Luz moves in with her mom's old friend Eda from collage and starts school at a high school for gifted kids. But when she learns she's not on a full scholarship, she has to find a way to make enough money to stay there. No where seems to be offering a job that pays well enough to make the money before the deadline. Soon though, she finds herself taking an interesting job working for Eda.
