The King asked my mother's hand driven by love while he was promised to another Lady, the Bonne de Savoie. My brothers and I needed protection, especially because we were not from a union with the King, so therefore, we were not royal. We actually all needed protection because my mother was pregnant with, we all hoped for, a baby boy. I knew she wanted to give Edward an heir as soon as possible.
