This is a personal poem on the horrific experiences my family has endured and continues to face amidst the ongoing conflict in Sudan. The poem talks about how hard it is to lose your home and how much it hurts. . . . . Nearly 5 million people have been internally displaced since the outbreak of armed conflict in the country in April 2023 in sudan. #PrayForSudan

An exploration into how childhood trauma shaped the life of one woman and the unlikely circumstance that gives her the motivation to begin her healing journey. I posted this story to display my writing's "starting point." I wrote this piece a few years ago for a creative writing class and I wanted to "unofficially" publish it so that I could track my writing progress. Because of this, I wanted to keep it as similar to the original as possible. One day, I would like to review and rewrite it. Until then, please enjoy one of the first pieces to spur my writing journey!
