However... what if you found yourself in the world of Shadow Slave as Sunless, but the story is a 'little' different than the one you know? Let's find out!

An Enigma: A person or thing that is mysterious or difficult to understand. Julia is a girl living in the time of the Nightmare Spell, a sort of disease that has turned many infected humans into Awakened with special abilities in order to combat nightmare creatures in a parallel world known as the Dream Realm. As a child from the outskirts, she has very little challenge of even passing her first Nightmare, and would most likely die, her body becoming the conduit for an abomination to come through and slaughter multiple people, as such she took the logical course of action, and decided it was to attempt suicide. That's what she was told at least, as after she woke up from her first nightmare she has been rendered unable to remember any details of her life from before the nightmare beyond what Sunny, her rather petty and cunning friend has told her. Now, together with Sunny, a blind seer named Cassie, and Nephis, a legacy clan princess who could only be described as an Autistic Blowtorch, she must figure out how to even survive the Dream Realm before worrying about anything else. And she will survive, even if it meant lying, stealing, and manipulating her way up the ladder. (I do not own shadow slave or any characters from the original novel as I was not the one who wrote it, I do encourage anyone who reads this to check out the original novel)

Peeta, Alpha to the (starving) Blind Howl Pack, is picked as well, he feels an immedient attraction and vows to make sweet, innocent Ever his. But Cato matches his aggressiveness in claiming Ever before Peeta can. Ever attaches to small Rue, the 13 girl shadows the 16 year old Ever. Its obvious two strong Alphas want her, but what happens when a jealous Glimmer vows to kill her before she can be marked and flown away? Who will claim the frightened wolf? Will Ever still have her freedom and free will, or will the chains of a Mark bind her strong will?

An orphaned fey must find a means to survive despite the crown's ruthless hunters. This is the first encounter of Effie of Glen Coe and the fey hunter, Edmund Glover, set years before the events of the novel, THE LAIRD OF DUNCAIRN. To align with THE LAIRD OF DUNCAIRN, the following version of "Effie of Glen Coe" has been revised since its original publication in Stories in the Ether. For starters, Effie wasn't Effie then, she was Aelfie, and the Fey Finder, Edmund Glover, only a land surveyor working for the crown. But the heart of the tale, that of a young, orphaned fey lost in a larger world of prejudice and propaganda, remains. When writing the first novel of the Fey Matter series, I had first thought to leave out all of the action of this short story. It is a separate tale, after all. But my editor rightly convinced me parts of it were needed as backstory, so into the novel they went. For not only do these scenes depict the first encounter of Effie and Glover, but more so, they show the brutal reality of Effie's childhood and what drives her toward adventure.

Even though Effie survived the rebellion her bright attitude was dead. The only person to help her was Haymitch and he trew his chance away.
