When the Traveler entered the solar system everything changed. It propelled humanity thousands of years in the future with new technology. It made Mercury a garden world and allowed mankind to delve the secrets of the universe with its Light. But the Light that shone down on humans was coveted by many other species, searching the void of space for the Traveler and its Light. They found it, and then the Darkness came for all. This story is about a group of Guardians leading a band of survivors across the North American dead-zones to safety in the Dark Age; shortly after the Collapse. Jade is a newly awoken Guardian with no memories of her previous life. She must learn how to use her new powers to survive and find out what it means to be a Guardian in a world riddled with alien enemies and no safe haven. With each death and resurrection she wonders if she could trust her Ghost, her companions, and her own memories. Why was she chosen? What really happened during the Collapse? Is the enigmatic Traveler truly a friend of mankind? Or can the Ahamkara, powerful shapeshifting Dragons, give her what she seeks?

Blader Thrym never meant to get into trouble, but it always seemed to find him. So when he is offered a chance between allowing his trouble to bring shame upon his family or enlist in the einherjar, thereby restoring his honor, Blader chooses the latter. Each incoming einherjar must prove themselves worthy to join the ranks of the finest warriors, those belonging to the Reborn Cosmos' High King Baldor. The rite of passage, the Reenactment, sends all the new recruits into a reality that is a remembrance of the old Nine Worlds, of the worlds before Ragnarok, in order to test their courage, strength, honor, cleverness, and combat skills through a series of trials. The stakes are life and death. Only those good enough to survive have what it takes to be an einherjar. But the wolves are beginning to sneak out of the darkness and talk of conspirators is increasing. When allegiances are called into question and suspicions of the Reenactment's effectiveness to select the best recruits for the einherjar start spreading, Blader must do his best to both survive and hold to the values he prizes. Hiro Angeles, an avid gamer of VRMMO's, received a mysterious e-mail one day. The e-mail featured instructions on accessing a game called "Valkyria". In the e-mail, he is informed that he is one of the 300 players chosen to play the game which is in beta phase. Following the instructions, Hiro meets Arisa Ferrer, a high-class girl who is also one of the 300 beta testers for Valkyria. Hiro created an Assist-type Einherjar to start the game. The game combines traditional RPG elements with heroic battles to secure and destroy objectives in randomly-generated maps.
