An adventure exploration story of player character, Artemia Valtieri, throughout the province of Skyrim in the Tamriel continent in Mundus. The story takes place during the first day of the Fourth Era Second Century when Jarl Ulfric Stormcloak murdered the High King of Skyrim. Artemia was searching for a dwarven ruin toward the east of High Rock when she accidentally crossed into the Skyrim border and got caught by the Imperial Guards near Darkwater River in Eastmarch. When she woke up, she was riding a carriage along with many other captured prisoners, some wearing blue uniform, claiming to be "Stormcloak" soldiers. Her carriage had the infamous Ulfric sitting beside her. They were all taken to Helgen for death-punishment. Right when she was taken to the block to have her head chopped off, a dragon emerged out of nowhere and stroke the entire Helgen by its fiery breath. Her adventure story began when she escaped with Stormcloak Soldier Ralof through the Helgen Keep.
