Diaval has been sent as an emissary to the Great Khan of Rhûn. However, when the Khan and his court find out about his affair with his daughter, Diaval is captured and thrown into the dungeon of the palace. Princess Hala pleads for his life and the Khan decides to give him a choice: take part in the Great Race and win to be free. Lose and he will be cast into the Pit. Refuse and the Khan will throw him in the Pit anyway. Diaval only sees one option but he's sure he and his horse Thorben are able to cross the dreaded desert "Ocean of Fire" and finish first. ✯ My entry for the third round of @GerithorDunedain 's Distant Land Awards.

We have Tolkien's appendices that tell us much of what happened after the coronation of Aragorn, and his marriage to Arwen, but for the romantic at heart, he leaves much to be desired. This is the story of King Elessar II and Arwen Undomiel after the crownless has become king. As I have continued to write this, I found that I also wanted to focus on a more in-depth look at life after the fall of Sauron. After the ring is destroyed things are wrapped up quickly in a rather un-Tolkien style. I wanted to change that.
