While everyone else rebuilds their futures, Will feels suspended in the past, feeling meaningless in his own life, watching his friends grow into people he no longer recognizes. He wears his practiced smiles, nods at the right moments, pretends as if he's listening intently as he tears himself up on the inside. To find out that Lucas has basketball. Dustin has Hellfire. El is discovering who she wants to be. And Mike- Mike has El. And Will has a love he can't kill and a heart that won't move on. - A purposeful angsty Byler story that is truly going to be focused on the unrequited love aspect, while still being fulfilling to read. I think this chapter 1 is a tell-tale of how I'm going to treat the rest of the story, so feel free to read.
