Ithilwen did not return with the woodland army. Instead she waited until Dis came to the Mountain. After Dis learned of her sons fate. She kneeled before Ithilwen and thanked her for protecting them. Dain gave her the White Gems of Lasgalan, saying that she deserved it. As well as Dis' persuasion. Bidding farewell to the lonely mountain she made her way back home. This is Ithilwens final journey and Thranduil' final chance for redemption with his daughter. Though will his overprotectiveness really be gone with in a month who knows it may take longer than a month.

The Eldar say that those who marry late have strange fates and love certainly came late for Amaruil Celebrindal, a noble Sindar, friend of Arwen Undomiel and the love left behind in Rivendell as the Fellowship left to destroy the One Ring. Aragorn was not the only member of the Fellowship who was fighting for an elf.
