Whether the mistake is actually the sham of a marriage, or the fact that she hasn't been able to locate him after running out on him that following morning, is yet to be determined. With an over-protective brother fighting for her to get a divorce, the town seeking gossip, and neighboring farmers trying to cause her farm to go under, Matilda is stressed to a breaking point. Matters only worsen when her new husband tracks her down, but not for the reasons she thought he would. Can Matilda learn to trust her new husband and allow him to help her save her small world? Or will the reality to their situation crumble the hope of what could be?

Calcutta 1969, a period of revolution and poetry. Charulata Dutta dreams to be a scholar, even if it implies going against her conservative family. Despite being the first graduate in the history of Dutta women, she soon finds herself trapped in a web of loneliness and desolation. In her perfect world of Victorian literature and Elizabethan plays, her less than perfect family poses a constant threat to her freedom. Until she receives an envelope full of jasmine flowers. As time flies, she bares her emotions completely to her anonymous friend, whom she writes anonymous letters. While her family prepares for her marriage, she finds herself deep in love with this anonymous correspondent. Nilotpol Shome has a myriad variety of mismatched degrees and interests. Despite being a soon to graduate medical student, his quill never hesitates to voice his radical ideas. When an unexpected turn of events coerces him to seek help from a loner english major, he could never speculate that she would be the woman who could tame his wild heart. However, she is in love with another, presumably her fiancé. In the congested Calcutta streets, they both strive to prevent their heart from shattering into splinters. As Calcutta journeys through post-independence struggle and budding Communism, the City of Joy stands witness to a tale of unexpected friendships, love and loss that blooms in it's streets. After all, youth turns everyone into a rebel and a poet.

George Wickham: Meryton's man of mystery. Every girl in, or near, Meryton is out of her senses about him for the first two months of his arrival. But who is he, and what has he been doing since he left Pemberley with his three thousand pounds? When he walks into a room, George Wickham is the happy man towards whom almost every female eye is turned, and, for a while, Elizabeth Bennet is delighted to be singled out as the object of his attention. Disappointingly for those anticipative ladies, George Wickham has had a complicated past; a past which prevents him from marrying any of them as he has neither the means nor the talent to support a gentleman's lifestyle. And he already loves another. Unfortunately for him, the independent lady he has fallen in love with is sensible. She knows and loves him for what he is, not what he pretends to be and until he has some security of his own, she will never risk hers by marrying him. Step back inside the delightful world of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and accompany Wickham along the twists and turns of his travels from Cambridge, through London and Ramsgate, to the seemingly safe and insignificant side-turning into Meryton. Unbeknownst to him, this is a detour which will forever alter his journey.
