After the death of Nessarose, Elphaba has apologized to the Wizard once and for all. She now lives in the Palace with her best friend and her lover. Sadly, she has fallen into a deep depression and tries to right every thing that she feels is wrong with her. She ends up losing her memory of the previous years and wakes up, not knowing who the man across the hall is and why a blonde girl calls her "Elphie".

A magical young woman named Madriga wakes up in the Emerald City with no memory of who she is and no family to call her own. She befriends the kind witch Galinda, who tries to help her regain her life while also dealing with Elphaba's rebellious actions against the Wizard of Oz. Madriga is suddenly possessed by a foreign spirit named Jinu, who takes control of Madriga's body while she is asleep. As Madriga and Jinu learn to understand one another, they also learn a valuable lesson that good and evil are not always black and white.
