But what happened in between is where the answers lie. On January 1, 2061, everyone woke up. And they haven't aged since. In 2077, sixteen year old Karsyn does not know where she came from. She always believed that she was born on April 18, 2037, but the discovery of a mysterious object, half buried past the Edge makes her wonder what she is and sends her nearly 100 miles past the Edge to find the headquarters of a long-forgotten genetic alteration group called EmberGen-- because inside a hidden compartment in the object, what Karsyn found was a piece of paper with her name on it... and it says that her birthday was April 18, 2038.

I'm not sure that this is going to make much sense, even to the very few people who will know the inspiration behind it, and if you don't, you're very unlikely to understand. When you start reading, you will quite quickly discover that this story is not, as it seems, about a fire, but something much deeper than that. There are things I've wanted to explain and talk about, but sometimes you just can't find the right words. But now I know I've got it right. I have a story, and this is the only way I know how to tell it
