Sapphire has been dancing with demons before she was in diapers, and now it has come time for the family scythe to be passed down to her. Sapphire must take her father's role as Reaper, so his soul can be laid down into an eternal slumber. As she learns the way of the Reaper, she encounters Emery Eldridge, a sweetheart who is as normal as it gets. After she must reap his beloved grandmother, the thought of Emery stays tattooed on her mind. Join Sapphire on her quest to overthrow those who attempt to hold her down and partake in adventures to keep her rebellious spirit forever burning. (I wrote and published this story once before on Wattpad.com, but I have removed it and have rewritten it because I did not like the direction the previous story was heading. This is a remake of what it originally was, including a new plot and a renaming of characters.)

They all looked at me with anger. Smoke was coming from the large man who spoke to me, ears. This was bad! They started to take small steps towards me. "Kid you will be joining us on a joy ride tonight. A visit to the boss. I'm sure he'll find a way for you to pay that sluts debt off!", He said in a low, anger voice. Frightened, I turned on my heels to run away. My short legs didn't even make it to the back room before arms were around my waist. "Stop! Quit making this difficult!!", The man who caught me shouted into my ear. I thrashed around in his arms and started to kick. I was too busy trying to get out of his arms, that I didn't see one of the other men with a cloth in their hand. He walked to my side and covered my face. My breathing began to slow. I stopped struggling in the mans arms. My eyes eventually started to roll back till I blacked out. Last thing I heard was, "Damn. Boss ain't going to like this one feisty!"

There's only one thing in his way. Concussion or not Emery isn't going down without a fight. It seems the more she doesn't want him around, the more he happens to be. She thinks her life is spiraling into the ground...but maybe she has it all wrong. With an offer she can't refuse and a heat of the moment bet, it's time for them both to realize that there's a thin line between love and hate. And with an injury like this, that line is surely to blur.
