Sixteen-year-old Lou is having a hard time moving on. Ever since her best friends moved to Texas, everything feels different. The days seem longer, her neighborhood feels emptier, and the boyfriend she's been holding on to is becoming harder and harder to ignore. What used to feel like love now feels like something else entirely. Then, during an ordinary walk through her neighborhood, Alex witnesses a boy wipe out on his skateboard after hitting a pebble in the sidewalk. After helping him up and handing back his board, she learns he's new to the neighborhood. One conversation turns into another, and before they part ways, they've exchanged numbers. What starts as a simple friendship grows into something Alex never expected. Between skateboarding sessions, late-night texts, and getting to know someone who sees her for who she really is, Alex begins to rediscover the parts of herself she'd lost. But as her feelings for the new boy grow stronger, her toxic relationship becomes impossible to ignore. To move forward, Alex will have to decide what-and who-is worth holding on to.

Maria, a young teenager struggling through the hardships of middle school and the cruelties of the girls and boys within it, is basically what anyone living in this age would call an "emo", and she doesn't bother hiding it, wearing anything dark, pure night black eyeliner, even dyed her hair black and purple to hide her natural colour, but with looks aside, she really is depressed, feeling alone, isolated, and often hurts herself because she feels like nobody even wants her, but, maybe, a boy with a warm embrace can melt her cold heart Daniel, a middle teenager is going through the pains of middle school, with his abusive parents, terrible and unwanted friends who treat him like trash, with his dark hair and cold personality, nobody wants to be around him, until one day when he literally slams into a girl, a girl who may just understand who he truly is
