Not really a lot of us wonders how one's soul endures a coma, and for some reason my curiosity has brought me to this redefinition of one's life. It really took me awhile to get it the way I intended it to be. I wouldn't really want to spoil the entire plot, so I'll give you all a go at it. "I Smile So They Don't See" is about pretending I'm fine when I'm not, laughing so no one notices the ache inside, and just hoping someone will see the real me someday.

This poem tells the story of loving someone deeply while slowly realizing they were never truly yours. It captures the heartbreak of trusting the wrong person, the quiet damage caused by betrayal, and the way love can drain someone of their identity and light. Even through the pain and loss, the poem ends with resilience, showing the speaker choosing survival, self worth, and strength after being broken, and reclaiming their color after everything was taken.
