This is an AU focusing on Empires season 1 Gem, where Xornoth returns, but in a different way The AU name is called the Corrupt Puppeteer AU

All of the kingdoms of the Empires Season 1 were on edge as Xornoth fought to control the realm. Two leaders, Gem of the Crystal Cliffs and Scott of Rivendell struggled against Xornoth, along with many other brave rulers. When Gem and Scott got kidnapped by Xornoth's minions, Joey and Sausage, Jimmy was luckily around to save them. But what if Jimmy hadn't come? What of Gem and Scott had been left to suffer in the dungeons of Mythland? By a twist of time and fate, Jimmy had no reason to come to the kingdom that day. The timeline stumbles down a different path. Creative liberties are taken and there is a lot of paraphrasing of events especially in the beginning.

Katherine has her own problems; monster hunting duties, Pirate Joey and her curse. But despite everything going on in her life, she tries her best to help Shelby, even in ways she wasn't prepared for. She has always been ready to do anything for Shelby, but recently, it's gone up a level. Feelings are strange but important so it's good to have someone to talk about them, whether it's someone or something.

After the battle with Xornoth the demon didn't get trapped as intended. The corruption was what was trapped leaving a very confused elf in its wake

Lizzie had just won the crown from Joel's gameshow and has decreed that everyone shall only eat cake. Gem tries her best to follow the decree, but soon gets tired of the same cake, and the lack of nutritional content in cake is making itself known as people get weaker and weaker. Gem tries to find a way to make new, better types of cake the only way she knows how... Magic. She succeeds, but before she can share her new edible discovery, a certain brother distracts her and the spell goes haywire, summoning a portal underneath Gem. Gem falls with her staff and grimoire into a new world, leaving the empires with no idea on how to get her back.
