We had a deal, Professor Shim," Minji said, her voice dropping to a sharp whisper. "In this building, you are my instructor, and I am just another name on your attendance sheet. You don't get to critique my life choices in front of my peers."
Jake didn't look up immediately. He slowly stacked his lecture notes, his expression a mask of cool indifference before his eyes finally met hers.
"I was critiquing your thesis statement, Miss Kim, which was severely lacking," Jake replied, his voice smooth, calm, and utterly infuriating. He stepped out from behind the desk, crossing his arms. Minji took a step forward, her eyes narrowing. "I hate you."
A faint, almost imperceptible smirk touched the corner of Jake's lips. "Form a line, Minji. But unfortunately for you, you're the only one stuck with my ring on your finger."
