You don't fall.
You are thrown.
The Sphere's judgment sends you into the Pit along with the city's refuse. Twisted metal, torn cloth, broken tools spinning beside you like discarded memories. The air reeks of rust and rot, and the darkness below opens wide, patient, inevitable.
Then-
Everything goes quiet.
The noise of crashing trash fades. The screaming wind softens. Even your heart seems to hold its breath, to cover you silently.
You look up.
At the edge of the Sphere, silhouetted against the sky, stands a man bathed in sunlight. The sun burns the same color as his eyes. A sharp, warm, impossible shade that pours down around him as if it chose him on purpose to hold the sun in him.
Dust and debris fall past his outline, but he doesn't move. He just watches.
And in that stillness, you chock on your breath.
A stir of questions from the experience before you collapsed on the ground now. Questions that hung in the air and between them both as your body started to feel movement again.
And despite yourself. Despite your cautious behavior throughout your life that kept you alive and surviving you asked something out of sorts instead.
"Who are you?"
An ordinary question that would unlock so many new experiences.
His gaze meets yours-steady, curious, unafraid and for a single suspended moment, the Pit no longer exists. There is only the distance between them, stretched thin by gravity and fate.
Then he tilts his head, a faint smile tugging at his mouth.
"Well" he says softly, almost amused,
"What a beautiful suprise"
Then the darkness rushes back in.
Trash collides. The fall resumes. The Pit surges upward to claim you.
But you keeps looking at him-at the sun wearing a man's shape-even as the light pulls out of reach.
Because even as the Sphere discards you, you were now being seen for who you were
And that changes everything.
