Together with the legendary Reshiram, the Swords, her pokémon, Cheren, and Starla, Corona defeated N and Zekrom in the battle of their beliefs. But years before Corona became a Hero, there was another girl. A girl, very different, yet very similar to Corona herself. A Hero in her own right. Her name was Alanna Gray. She was Corona's mother. The story began years before Ghetsis manipulated N into his beliefs; before lightning clashed with fire once more. During her journey, she is met with great adversity that will challenge her emotions and strength as a trainer, including the brutal illegal group known as the Silver Gang, the same gang who murdered her father eight years ago, who wish to capture the baby Pokemon for themselves and take it to the black market. (Though set in the Pokemon Universe, 'Rayla's Ascent' gives the reader a look into the darker side of this normally kid-friendly world. Suggestive language, violence, and illegal activities give this story a darker spin on the franchise.)

It was going to a normal day, at least that's what everyone thought, in the center of multiple areas a nuclear reaction happens caused by a group of Pokémon. They ended up fusing with the Pokémon next to them. The reaction caused the two Pokémon to share one body.
