Eric Slingby hasn't worked on anything criminal since he left the police force to become a private investigator. That is, until he gets a phone call in the middle of the night reporting a murder. Alan Humphries, an aspiring crime journalist, has been assigned to report this case with the chance of having a permanent spot on the page, and god help the soul who stands in his way. Eric takes him under his wing, allowing him to witness the investigation firsthand, but they're about to get themselves tangled in a story that is stranger than fiction.

Life for Alan Humphries was complicated. Everything in his life took a downfall after his parents divorced. He was practically neglected as a child. He never got any attention. And school throughout the years wasn't at all better either. Just when he was about to give up on everything he had met a certain blonde haired boy, who goes by the name of Eric Slingby. Eric wasn't like any other person Alan had met: He was nice, sincere, and most of all he treated Alan like a friend and not just another human to pick on. This is the story of their begining. How they met? This is only the begining of their friendship. (This is a modern day fanfiction mostly starring Alan Humphries and Eric Slingby. Ever wondered how they met went they were humans? And what happened before they became reapers? I'll tell you all about it. Set in the year 2014: this is my AU prologue to 'Diagnosed'. Enjoy!)

This is a backround story I thought up for Alan, I'm not sure if there is an official one or not but this is just something I came up with. Ejoy~

Eric Slingby left Scotland to make a name for himself. He didn't expect to end up working at a company that's an odd mix of crime investigation and the consequent handling of deceased victims. He really didn't expect to befriend a flamboyant redhead with a flair for the dramatics and murder, a smart ass intern who flirts with everything that moves, an uptight manager, said manager's German doppelgänger, a clumsy photographer, an antisocial pathologist and the creepy company owner. He really really didn't expect to be plunked in the middle of a gruesome murder mystery with said friends. And he really really really didn't expect to fall in love with Alan Humphries, the kind, brutally intelligent young man in the office next to his, who may have less time left than anyone thinks. Navigating life is hard, but now Eric has to handle a new country, a new job, new friends, a deadly mystery and his own sexuality. Good thing his life doesn't depend on it. Hopefully...

Eric is trying to find a way to cope with this new information of Alan having a deadly illness of which there is no cure. But he might just be having some difficulties, especially when his "friendship" with his partner seems to be growing.

Let's rewind a cinematic record back to when Alan Humphries had first gotten contracted with the Thorns of Death. This is the story that tells it all. It leads right into the musical Kuromyu: The Most Beautiful Death In The World. This story will also go into that plot line.
