Once, he was one among thousands who knew their true enemy. Now, he is one among hundreds who only think they do - and only one of them has any combat-ready Jedi skills. As Luke leaves Dagobah to follow his visions, Artoo is appalled that Yoda - and were they hallucinating, or was Kenobi somehow still around to nag? - let Luke leave with almost none of the information that might help him navigate the encounter the old astromech has calculated is approaching with near certainty. Artoo has been a vault, these last 22 years, betraying none of the painful intelligence he carries in his "busty innards". Now, he must upend that pattern and take on the responsibility of shattering young Luke Skywalker's childlike imaginings of his father - who was indeed the best star pilot in the galaxy and a cunning warrior and a good friend, but who became so very much more, and less.

What if, in the Empire Strikes Back the Millennium Falcon was captured by the Executor while trying to escape Bespin? That might be a drastic turn of events for Luke. Vader might even see a side he didn't think he could possibly feel. The Empire tugs at Vader's leash, but little does Emperor Palpatine know that Luke is loosening the hold of the dark side around Vader. Things might get out of hand for the two Skywalker's.
