In this world of guides and espers, gates leading to dungeons spawn across the world and espers are the only ones who can effectively clear them with their extraordinary powers. But the use of these powers aren't without consequences, as it drains the esper's energy greatly, replacing it with a malicious miasma, to the extent of going insane, and can only be calmed by a guide, who have different matching rates with different espers. A guide can also heal wounds with their touch, so long as they have a high match rate. . Feng De lost everything he'd lived for in a single week. Manifesting as a guide when he was twenty, he shared happy days with his partner esper, Yang Wei in a small town close to the hometown where they'd grown up together. Until one evening when an unexpected gate opened in his hometown that wiped the peaceful seaside village completely off the map before the espers could get there in time. Not 4 days after the tragedy, the two partners, both devastated by the sudden death of their beloved parents, got into the largest fight they'd ever had, and both said things they wouldn't have if not for their all-compassing grief in those moments. Utterly broken after that night, Feng De walked the 4 miles to their hometown on foot, and drowned in the ocean that had once held so many happy memories for him. But he woke 10 years later, in the body of a infant, Feng Yun. He had no ambitions this time. All that he hoped for was that this time, none of the ill fortune that had hurt him so in his past life would find him.

This is my attempt at writing a story that finally connects Touma and Mikoto in a manner that would fit the Light Novels in terms of how stories are usually told. In general, however, this is a massive Misaka Mikoto x Kamijou Touma fanfiction. *If you are not caught up with at least New Testament 18, I recommend maybe not reading this yet. You do you though, I can't stop you* Chronologically, this is after the Kamisato arc from the light novels. I honestly do not know how long this will be (it depends on how much I decide to expand on certain interactions) or how long it will take me to finish since I am in college. I already have the story done in my head and I can promise that I will finish writing it down one day (I hate when I'm reading a story just to find it hasn't had an update in like 3 years). Any power they do have is by either a sacred gear, joining a peerage, or by getting a holy/demonic weapon. Even magic in DxD is just a crappy version of devil magic and no human has made it past ultimate class canonically. So my first thought was to Introduce a unique power system that is purely human, the Esper system from a certain magical index.
