my first story

A 16 year old girl in medieval Ethiopia is faced with a difficult choice: To leave her family and sleepy village behind to embark on a grueling journey to the massive capital city of Berarra, or remain and marry a husband, providing him offspring. The answer to this question seems obvious, since the Emperor of the south offers all children between the ages of 11 to 18 to flock to the castle and be tested, then find a place amongst his castle staff and if the tests had one very specific outcome, to be enrolled in a special program. A prophecy of the greatest warrior found amongst the people is to be fulfilled after all. But is it wise to go, what with the religious Adal war at the brink of bursting out? What with powers far stronger than any simple human can imagine lurking in the shadows...
