Teenagehood is a tough world to live in. Society breaks you down, studies leave you renderless, and there's little to no time to make a better version of yourself. At least, that's what Isabel Cooper Valdez thinks. A girl at the age of seventeen, she's gone through her fair share of harsh realities. It seems as if the universe is out there to punish her when it takes away the one thing she held dear: her voice. Mute, dull and all-around sarcastic, the girl has low expectations of High School and wants nothing more than to enter college to pursue her dream of becoming a professional musician. It's when Kimberly High welcomes a brand new student that she realizes her punishment is far from over. As a second generation immigrant who struggles to relate to her parent's cultural identity, Why Me is about a girl who is in search of cultural unity, as she explores the dichotomy between two opposing cultures whilst growing up.

The world is changing and people don't like it. Here is my honest opinion in the way things are. Do you think you can respect someone without understanding what they are or believe but simple respect them for WHO they are?

Honestly why would you read this? I don't recommend it. I mean honestly we're crazy. Two moms, many, MANY kids, and I mean a lot of kids. We've adopted a lot. It's a problem... we have favorites and we are extremely biased over our kids. We don't even like half of them. Of course we love them though. But it's our family ... our dysfunctional family.

We have all been victims of stereotypes whether we know it or not. We have all conformed to a stereotype whether we accept it or not. We have all judged people because we have automatically stereotyped them whether we admit it or not. We've been the cause of pain and the victim, all because of labels, that may or not be true. This has to end. Whether its the stereotyping of age or religion, ethnicity or class. It has to end, they have to go. We are all humans, we are all sharing one space. We should stop making assumptions. For those who prejudge are ignorant.

This is a really early one I wrote about a lot of things- acceptance, insecurity, being different having somewhere, or a group of friends to give you that sense of belonging. It's partly inspired by a trend I inadvertently picked up of having close friends that were often louder or more confident on the outside than I was. It wasn't because I was hiding behind their outgoing confidence- I realized there were more ways of being heard than just being loud. It was a case of opposites attract, but only if we accept each others differences. So cheesy intro aside, enjoy!

The message in this tempoem is a plea to all people to accept individuality, the leading of one's own life in one's own way without conforming to prevailing patterns.

A marriage between two people of different ethnicities. Both their families against their union, hell even the groom in question was surprised, but quirky Zaib-un-Nissa has a way with people and that is how she got Hamzah, her family, and his family to agree to this marriage. Is Zaib-un-Nissa going to regret her decision? What will follow after their I do's? Are their ethnicities going to come between them?

I always knew I would marry someone from that culture, that my parents would have a hand in picking my husband, I just never thought about it. How would I hold up? Would I like him? Could I like him? What if I meet someone would I have the guys to tell my parents? This question I may never really get the answer to... Maybe ignorance truely is bliss. If I go looking for the answer for every one of my desires can I truely be happy with what destiny hands down to me?
