Stanton is a place of discovery. A great science endeavor, delving into the barriers of evolution and genetic coding. It, and many like it, have produced some of the greatest experiments of all time, completely changing human society. The subjects? Humans. Twelve and Blitz have lived in Stanton their whole lives. It is practically their temple, the late Edward Stanton their god. Blitz, a prime product of the experimentation, represents the perfect Interfector: a tall, strong soldier with undying loyalty. Twelve is much less of that, but the academy has not been able to make faulty subjects disappear in over two decades. Only six years prior had they learned of an outside world. In the next coming months, the two will have to prepare to enter that world, facing the blunt contrariety of its people. Well, until a strange new peer enters Twelve's class.

Everly Maylabel is an average high schooler. She's kind, honest and very overprotective of her best friend. Everly would do anything for Nova, and one such occasion puts the girls in detention together. What happens afterwards changes their lives forever. Deviants, mutated humans, run rampant through the town. Since they started showing up, life has greatly changed. Curfew is at five in the evening and no one is supposed to travel by themselves, but people don't necessarily like listening to the rules and deviants like taking advantage of things just because they have the power to do so.
