In the dystopian world of the year 2208, something needs to change. The totalitarian government of Amaret, a sprawling country comprising all of former North and Central America, has discovered revolutionary techniques to screen for mental disorders in brain scans and DNA tests. There's only one problem with that -- instead of using this breakthrough for good, they've been rounding up and executing Amaretians with psychological conditions. No one has ever even considered fighting back. The latest batch of Anomalies won't accept their fate so easily, but escape is impossible... right? 47 is the first book in the Scopophobia series.

For the first few months after the fall of Amaret, things were settling relatively fine. Turns out, though, rebels desperate for freedom don't usually think that far ahead. The people of Amaret had never known anything but totalitarian rule, and now, they don't know how to function without it. It has been three years since the Anomaly Revolt, and the anarchist expanse now called Idyll is reeling after a devastating wave of natural disasters brought on by the failure of climate control technology. With most buildings in ruins and nearly all factories long defunct, the inhabitants of lawless Idyll fight each other for resources, land and ownership of the few production facilities in good enough condition to be repaired and restored. In a way, it is the ultimate test of humans' cooperative skills: can the former Amaretians bring civilization back to this forsaken territory, or is Idyll doomed without a government?

Syn is a soldier of the UEPM, the United European People's Militia, stationed in the city of Piora. Her job is to keep the pickers, henchmen of the PICC - Paragon Industrial Cybernetics Corporation - from overrunning the city. Thanks to her past as a genetically modified Spartan soldier, it is a job she does well. Things start to get complicated when Danger, a freelancer and fellow ex-Spartan, decides out of the blue to not kill Syn. A tentative friendship blossoms and threatens to shake the already fragile relationships Syn possesses. It's not too long before Syn discovers the true cost of trust in a life like hers. ~~~~~~~~~ Author Note: This is a borderline fanfic/original fic. As in I use names from Halo (yes Spartan you read that right) and electronic dance musicians as characters, but the characters are all OOC to the point where they are basically OCs. Obviously, I do not own the Halo universe or Danger, Daze, Gesaffelstein or any of the other EDM people. They own themselves, hopefully. But I DO own the story and my characters and the sass and everything they do. I'm watching you =.=
