It's called the Euthanasia Coaster-conceived as a feat of architecture and as a humane way to lead human beings to their end, nobody ever thought it would become a reality. But in the year 2044, a global food shortage has killed millions, and the coaster is constructed. An ethical solution arriving at the perfect time, some officials think. The countries with the perfect blend of population and wealth begin randomly selecting citizens to ride the rollercoaster. The lives of twenty-four strangers whose names are selected intertwine fatefully, irrevocably, and finally on the death coaster's first trip.
