A Mareven fanfiction, all the characters used in the text belong to Victoria Aveyard. After King Tiberias the sixth is murdered by a scarlet guard operative on the night of the sun shooting, rumours start to fly that Elara was behind the attack, to prove herself innocent she steps down from the throne allowing Cal and Evangeline to take the crown. During the coronation tour Cal, Evangeline and her family are involved in a scarlet guard bombing. With Cal and Evangeline assumed dead, Maven and Mare are left to to take the throne.

Mare goes back to Norta months after the events of War Storm, along with Evangeline, Elane, and Farley. This is the story of Mare rekindling things with Cal, Evangeline trying to deal with the current issue facing The New Free Republic of Norta, an assassination attempt that left Julian, the current Premier on his deathbed, and Farley trying to figure out what, if any, Powers her infant may possess and how on earth she's going to deal with them. *Though none of this is a Marecal oneshot, Cal's fourth POV can be read as one. **I OWN NOTHING!! This will be a Lucas Samos fanfiction in the first half, and even though I have physically read the series once and listened to it multiple times, things may be missed and the timeline may be slightly messed up. Also, ignore how Lucas was described in the books. I imagined his as a blonder Lucas Till for some reason (probably because they're both named Lucas), so that's how he looks here. Lucas is around 24 or 25, Delia is about 20 or 21. I have plans for this so stick around. Lucas and Delia do not have a happy ending, just as a spoiler, but Delia will find her own happy ending.

"Do you want me to live?" I choke the words out, nearly a sob, head pounding. Maven steps into my cell and this time I do not move away. I stay in my place on the cold ground, waiting to see how he responds. He stops right in front of me, crouching down. He puts a hand out to push the hair out of my face and I let him. He is oddly gentle and an unreadable expression takes over his face. "Of course I do," he finally says, an inkling of pain on his pale face. "And I can have you live." This is my take on what would have happened if Mare chose Maven in the Bowl of Bones.
