The crew cancel the show on behalf of Mikes health and are practically devastated to find out the other is unresponsive on the stage. When they bring him to the hospital, the shock continues as they find mikes mind is stuck thinking he is the Character he was playing in the play he got hurt in, Connor Murphy. Ben Platt is devastated at his friends new state of mind, he tries hard to help him out of it but nothing works and everything begins to loose hope... Till Mike (as Conner)starts to fall in love with Ben.

I let out a piercing cry in the middle of the hallway, falling to my knees as my chest began to tighten. I couldn't breathe, and my vision started to go black. What was Connor going to do with that letter? Would he show Zoe? Would he show everyone? As I struggled to breathe, my arms wrapped around my torso, someone's shadow fell over me. "Um, are you dying?" Unable to speak, I kept gasping, trying to find air somewhere. I felt someone kneel next to me. "Kid. Um, Evan. Are you dying or not? I don't really need to be responsible for someone else's death." Even though I felt like I was dying, I shook my head. The person sighed and sat down. "Christ, here, take your weird sex letter." I snapped my head up and saw Connor sitting there. My face went red and I gasped, "It's n-n-not a sex letter! It's an assignm-ment!" "What are you talking about?" "My th-therapist gave me an assignment," I stuttered. "Dear Evan Hansen, today's going to be a good day and here's why. I d-d-didn't write it to make you ang-gry." "Okay, fuck your arm.
