To Be Factionless This is a collection of short stories from Evelyn Johnson-Eaton's perspective. □Marcus- My husband, the greatest mistake of my life- raises his belt. I told myself that I would be strong, but now I cannot channel the courage I felt before. I shiver, and scream quietly as the belt hits skin.□ ■"Tobias. Look at me," I say, tilting his chin upwards. His dark blue eyes, so like his father's and yet not, more kind, shine back at me. "It doesn't need to serve any purpose. No, don't look at me like that. It just... is pretty, I guess." I wonder, for a moment, if I am doing the right thing, teaching him to slightly rebel against his Abnegation nature. Then I catch sight of his left arm, a masterpiece of red lines and welts, and grit my teeth. I am doing the right thing.■ ○Tobias chose Dauntless? I cannot believe it, but I also can, because I know he has to escape his father. But Dauntless? They kill Divergents, and I know surely he is one. Therese comes in and smiles at me. "Time to come in," she says, gesturing to the door. I stand, pushing thoughts and worry for my son aside and step through the door.○

After the experiment is over, Tobias Eaton lives in the newly settled Chicago. When his mother arrives in the city, he is afraid she might threaten the peace in the city. Along with this, Tobias still feels grief over the loss of Tris. Will he be able to save the city and deal with his grief? This story is told in "then" and "now" parts. The Then parts being before the epilogue of "Allegiant" and the Now parts take place after the epilogue.
