Everything starts differently for others. For me it started this summer, at the age of 18 I realized that life could be more exciting, that there were always memories to create, people to get to know, to forgive, to love, to feel and to forget. That summer I thought about when you think it's all over, when there are doubts and when you think it's too late and that you've missed everything. Life sometimes postpones the big things to the right time and place. If I had had this summer earlier or later it wouldn't have been the same, it came at the perfect time. Who knows, maybe it's starting for you too, maybe this summer or the one after, or maybe in ten summers. But for me it started this summer. My name is Romy Maine and this is the story of how it all began.

After coming out as transgender in high school, he made a vow to draw as little attention to himself as possible, diving headfirst into his work as a copy editor as soon as he graduated college.
