Book Four in the Expiring Series

Humanity is dying, sickness and pollution taking over, everything is failing but science. Scientists have come up with a way to alter human genetics to make us stronger, able to breath polluted air and fight off any sickness. But 594 people died to get the results that they wanted, now (20 years later) there are 500 Changes. They're not stable yet, so they're kept in labs, tested on and advanced until science confirms the success of Changes. But there are flaws in the system. For a human to become a Change, they have to be taken directly after birth to a lab and altered. Their genes no longer the genes of humans, but the genes of a superior breed of humanity, they are dangerous to their enemy, but their only enemies are the people who made them this way.

What happens when an ordinary morning turns into a life-or-death experience? For one moment, I thought I was about to die-sweat dripping, heart pounding, and memories flashing before my eyes. The cause? A cup of expired coffee on an empty stomach. A bitter reminder of how fragile life can be. We are all born with the date of our deaths imprinted on our arms. Its society's way of saying, "we own you", because they do. They watch and control us. They know our every move. They know when and how we are destined to die. In other words, they make us so they can break us and that's exactly what they did to me. This idea came from a prompt on Pinterest. ⚠warning this is my first book- read at your own risk⚠️ I'm also writing as I go so if things don't make sense feel free to point it out so I can fix it in editing. ?

The young boy lay curled up on the hard concrete floor of the worn out building. He was covered in blood from head to toe, mostly from the weeping stab wound in his chest but the rest from the torturous events that had just occurred. A single pure white orchid slowly wilted in the crumbling walls and his life seemed to be crumbling and wilting like the flower and building he resided in. Tightly closing his eyes and clutching at his chest he tried to push the ugly thoughts to the back of his mind. Yet in his dire attempt to push the event out of his mind, it all came rushing back in an overpowering amount of pain and anguish. Tears streamed down his face as he cried out in agony. His shaky small hands raised to his head as he tugged violently at his hair; shaking it fiercely to try and get it out of his mind. Then it seemed as though he had to relive it all again in his head, as the horrifying experience breached his hidden barrier in his demented mind.

They stood apart from each other, each holding a gun in both hands pointed at the two people they trusted the least in the world. Is this the ultimate face off, with the confronters being our favorite male characters- Jonas, Colton and Eric?...
