My name is Kyle, I am 21 years old. My friend Jason and I are looking for an artifact that is lost within a cave. We are camping in a rundown cabin as we search desperately to find the artifact. What is lying a head of us can possibly change our lives forever.

I like to write short stories - I don't have the patience for novels. Ideas will sometimes come to me, and I write them. In this case, I realized I wanted to write something in the classic "Bold Searchers for Riches in South America" type of adventure genre. However, it occurred to me just how dangerous these adventures are shown as being, and I wondered what would happen if the explorers weren't million-dollar movie franchise characters, but actual people who can slip up, and what that experience of going into the unknown would be like for them. That idea led to this story. I do hope you enjoy.

The compass belongs to the long-lost Hidden Compass Society, a league of explorers who once protected the world's forgotten wonders. Now, the kids must solve riddles, outsmart shadowy treasure hunters, and decide whether to keep the compass's magic a secret or share it with the world-all while juggling school and chores!
