The world is dead, but one mission remains.
Years after humanity fled Earth for the stars, the surface lies scorched and broken, haunted by storms, salt deserts, and the ruins of drowned cities. Only the Gwydgans, machines built in humanity's image, remain to keep vigil.
From the underground halls of Efrog Newydd Newydd, New New York, the caretaker collective Gobnata forged 142 emissaries to rescue Caratuac, the last human child left behind. All 142 failed. Now, from their sacrifice, rises a final creation: Designation 143. Dienforth.
Incomplete yet resolute, Dienforth must scavenge the fallen bodies of his siblings to complete himself. His journey will carry him through salt plains that flay steel, storm-wracked wastelands, and oceans that corrode everything they touch. Guided only by the fading voice of his parent and the dying echoes of those who came before, he walks alone to rescue one child and to prove that compassion can outlive humanity itself.
