A return to a childhood home leads to unexpected discoveries. Discover the story of Jane Eyre like you have never seen before.

Cassidy and Drex are strangers. They've never met, they don't know the other's last names, and they don't know the other's age. But they share one thing in common. They converse through the pages of an English classic at the town library. The pair's words are read by Flora, the main librarian with a soft spot in her heart, as well as a secret of her own. She tells the story she reads of the two meeting in the margins.

Viola Corrigan is a shy girl who enjoys reading, immensely. So much so, that someone in her school has started to leave books for her to read under the bleachers in the gym. Now Viola loves a good mystery, as much as she enjoys her adventure stories. But when a certain guy at school, instead of getting the hint, becomes her perpetual shadow and the strange situation of reacquainting herself with an old friend, even Viola starts thinking that her life has become a strange work of fiction.

Every writer, at some point in their life, has read a book that has not only kept them entertained, but has completely changed their outlook on life, morality, and faith - for the better or worse. The novel Jane Eyre did none of these things for me, but it did leave a lasting impression on me; an impression that conjured curiosity as to what type of person would read jane Eyre; if it had changed their life in any meaningful way and how they view these changes: positive or negative... etc. The subsequent work (having had no one to ask these questions too), I suppose, is a type of answer to these queries based on ideas and thoughts of my own. I hope you enjoy it!

This is one of those 'what if' adaptations. I've always wondered why Mr Rochester had to be broken so thoroughly before he could be happy with Jane Eyre. What if she had not been able to get away, what if he had been waiting by her door a second time, pleading her to stay? Would she indeed have lost herself and been made his mistress?
