Dakota (as mentioned in my bio) has had a crush on Jacob Lilley for a while now, and she can't help but think that he doesn't feel the same. So she tears herself apart. She's just in sixth grade, but her life is already extremely fucked up. Her dad was a drug addict and was put in rehab, she's haunted by some mysterious event in her family, something terrible happened in fifth grade, and her mind is already preoccupied by her absolute love for Jacob. I mean, can you blame her when she has all these thoughts flying through her head? What if he feels the same way? What if he doesn't? And what if her past comes back to haunt her? She's just trying to get through middle school the same way she's always gotten through school: Unnoticed except for by her bullies. Of course, she doesn't enjoy being bullied, but at least they noticed her every once in a while. » «» «» « I stared up into his deep, big brown eyes, as he stared back into mine, our faces only inches apart. He leaned in closer and whispered into my ear, his soft husky voice sending a chill down my spine. "You have no idea how long I've waited to do this." He leaned away from my ear, and I closed my eyes, expecting to be kissed. But then, what I heard was not expected. I heard laughter from all around me. That's when I realized something: It was all a prank.

One year after the hardest breakup of my life, I present to you what I learned. And this time, it isn't in cryptic poetry, it's the stone-cold truth.

A boy has never experienced anything like a girlfriend before since he was never asked out nor did he catch feelings for anyone... until high school. He starts to realize all of the problems that surface from gossip and casual conversations, where he is usually left out of the loop.
