I believe in fairies but I can't say I've had the pleasure of meeting such fairies. No I've met someone much darker. Someone who favours violence and doesn't exchange gold, no they simply take. The fairies I've met are of a darker breed. Once fairy in particular. The tooth fairy.

When Alima Song's parents vanish for no reason, she eventually thinks that they're dead, so she moves from her home in California to the tourist town of Cloncarrig, Ireland to get away from her grief. Aside from issues with the Fair Folk, she gets to know some Malachy Bray and his friends, finds a job, a house, and adopts a stray dog. Unknown to most people, the dog is Ned Song, her cursed but very much living father. He and her mother Lucy have not been killed--they "just" got kidnapped and cursed by the Wild Hunt, who are also the ones that keep trailing Alima after she moved. The Irish gods do not enjoy thinking about why a whole gang of fairies are messing with the Song family, but since their leader is a force of nature, they'll have to start improvising their help.

If there's a perfect world, with people who understand and sympathize with each other, Dew Coletyn wants to live in it. In her own, she can only go so far pretending that everyone has the right motives, or reasons, or incentives. She's not even sure if she's doing a good job of it, but she can certainly try. However, slipping yet another one of her little potions into the milkshake so that she doesn't die of boredom may have been the best decision she ever made, and she hadn't meant to be particularly noble or helpful to society in that specific instance.

One day as she visits the nearby village, Danika, she sees as a rebellious group of masked people set the town and her cabin on fire, though the villagers claim that they saw nothing but the houses set on fire one by one Elexae could do nothing but to disagree for what they had seen. This leaves her to realize that she doesn't belong to the world she lives in and sees things that nobody else could see. As for her home in shreds and flames, she decides to run away and find safety in the world beyond. But as she runs through the forest and suddenly stops she realizes that she hadn't only entered an undiscovered place but a continent and a kingdom of cruel people inside it. She gets taken to the castle only for her to get descended to her death for what she had done were against rules she didn't know of existence... The King will despise her and confront her, A prince from the neighbouring kingdom will befriend her, And the Crown prince will understand and help her. In the midst of the world, she finds out deathly secrets about the court - secrets that could break their world, even as she feels herself falling in love with a person who she shouldn't love.
