We were college sweethearts. Young, in love, and foolish enough to believe that love would always be enough. At nineteen, we found out we were going to become parents. We thought having a baby would bring us closer. Instead, somewhere between pregnancy, marriage, family, school, and growing up too soon, we slowly lost each other. He was once my best friend. My safe place. My home. Now, we were two strangers sharing the same roof, the same child, and a life we no longer knew how to call ours. Maybe we didn't stop loving each other. Maybe we simply forgot how to be us. Because sometimes, love doesn't end with goodbye. Sometimes, it ends with two people quietly becoming strangers.

I made a soldier fall in love with me. I chased him. I wanted him. I made him mine. And when he finally gave me his whole heart... I got tired. Now he loves me more than ever, while I'm secretly trying to figure out how to leave without destroying him. Because the cruelest thing about making someone fall for you... is realizing you don't want to catch them anymore.
