Every child at the age of fourteen gets a familiar, their familiar is determined by their personality. The child must train with their familiar, name it, bond with it, and when they are ready, fight with it. The bond of human and familiar is a bond that cannot be broken. When the human dies, so does their familiar. But when a familiar dies, the human lives on, miserable until the day they die. Life was tough for Kyra thorn, her mother died at birth and her father became miserable. The only person she could depend on was herself. She trained herself to hunt with a bow, she earned money with her killings and she looked after her father. When she had finally come of age to get her familiar, she set of on a journey, a journey that would change her life forever.

Even in this situation, with it pinning me to the ground, it seems to have a flicker of something other than bloodlust in its grey eyes. Something more... Compassionate?
