Ashes of the Arcane is a reimagined dark academia fantasy following six mages at Aethermoor Academy, where elemental magic divides the powerful from the outcasts. At its center is Angel Vale-a shadow mage who hides devastating power behind a "brat" performance, terrified of becoming the monster everyone assumes he is. When Hayden, a crimson storm mage whose unstable, unclassifiable magic makes him the academy's most feared student, intervenes to save Angel from bullies, an unlikely connection forms between two boys who've learned that being misunderstood is safer than being known. Beneath this new friendship lies a web of older bonds: Angel's twin Kylo (an ice mage) shares a twin-flame connection with dark-magic wielder Kyra and celestial-fire hybrid Vivine, their triad already forged through centuries of demonic and ancient lineage. As Angel begins to trust Hayden's steady, grounding presence, the dynamics shift-forcing Kylo to confront what it means when his mirror begins to reflect someone else's light. The story explores chosen family, the violence of being unclassifiable in a world that demands categories, and the radical act of letting yourself be held when you've only ever been the one holding back.
