My mother Paulina was born in Montreal in April of 1936 and died - her lungs full of pneumonia - not long after her 82nd birthday in May 2018 in a small town hospital in Exeter, Ontario. The following, a collection of short 100-word stories, poems, letters and photos, is me trying to process her death, and explore her life and our relationship. What's in it for you, good reader? Did Paulina lead a fascinating life? On the surface, probably not. But underneath? Tragic deaths. Foster homes. Young love. Poverty. Adultery. Bigamy. Re-invention. Perseverance. Passion. Imagination. Hoarding and lots of shopping. There will be lots and lots and lots of shopping.

This story is about and transgender, bisexual student and she lives with her drunk uncle (you'll find out what happened to her parents). disagreeable things happen with her uncle, as she's experienced this for 13 years and she's 16 years old right now. You will find out more about her in the story
