Stuck in a life and death battle with the apprentice she raised herself, Yura was killed in cold blood. As death embraced her in its chilling grip, a sudden warmth she never expected pulled her away. The next second she opened her eyes, the familiar smell and sight of poverty hit her. For a moment, she wondered if this was what people meant when they said, 'your life flashing before your eyes.' Although another second made her conclude this was false. The smell and sight were familiar, but it was still different. This wasn't her childhood, not a familiar street, no familiar buildings, and the people around her certainly weren't familiar. A completely different world, but no so different identity. This time, without the curse to burden her, she would suppress anyone who comes her way and rise to become a figure who everyone will revere. Either through whispers or stories; once they hear her name, only respect and fear shall stream through their blood. Even if her past still haunts her, she won't let those memories become a burden, only treasures for her to reminisce. She will always be a rat wondering the streets, even if she was given the title 'Saint'. And if people fall for her along the way, then you can only call them unfortunate.

Aurora Bailey has had a hard life, and the horizon is only looking harder. She's finally had enough of her abusive partner and decides to leave him, but finds she can't when he keeps pulling her back, sometimes even physically. After many attempts to leave him she manages to slip away and finds a new slew of problems. She's a girl alone, and right after she sees Gharet, her ex-abusive partner, with another girl, Aurora is attacked in an alley. Just when she thinks she's about to be murdered in a grimy alley, a man comes to her rescue, and who better than the friend of the prince and princess? Lord Evander has her attacker arrested and takes Aurora to his home, a large estate. Aurora settles in comfort in a safe new world and believes being on the other side everything is perfect, but again, she's wrong, and Gharet isn't finished with her. He goes as far to rope the church in and have her returned to him. She battles a tiring fight struggling to just have a peaceful life. Can she, or will she be trapped by Gharet forever? The community living on the dragon's island on the Northern Reef comprises far more species of people than just dragons, and when the elf, Toriel, volunteers to help the gold dragon paladin, Sir Lylnetrath, he never could have guessed just how important the community would become to him. This is a story about a background character from my previous work, Dragon Isle (which can be found at https://www.wattpad.com/story/402934511-dragon-isle). It begins in the year 222AG with Toriel's arrival on the Isle of Young as a skilled mage of 135 years old, and refers to incidents described in Dragon Isle, The Temple of Balance, and other works to be shared in the future (yes, most of my stories are linked). I have tried very hard to maintain continuity and keep everything in the correct order but I am very aware I've probably missed something out or screwed with the timeline somewhere. If you notice any glaring continuity errors please tell me! The children's song in chapter 8 is sung to the nursery rhyme tune, Head, shoulders, knees and toes.
