Cyra is trying to escape from her luxurious prison of a life. Rin is trying to escape from all the people trying to kill him. The only way they can be free is to escape the planet Candalis-to make it from Austral City, the enormous polar metropolis, to the starport at the burning equator. To do so, they will have to survive everything a murderous government can throw at them as well as the harsh environment of Candalis itself. And they will have to trust each other, which is harder than it sounds. Because Rin has a power that is whispered about in legends, and the legends say that it makes a person into evil incarnate. This book is the first part of a trilogy that I will probably never finish, but the ending is just enough of a resolution that I thought I should post it here anyway. It was originally conceived as a sort of cyberpunk Star Wars.

In the unforgiving desert of Arrakis, where power and survival are dictated by spice and blood, two women from opposing forces find their destinies entwined in a violent clash of empires. Kara, a fierce and independent Fremen warrior, has long fought against the tyranny of the Emperor and his Sardaukar legions. Nyra, a battle-hardened Sardaukar officer, is a loyal soldier trained to kill, whose only mission is to uphold the Emperor's rule-until she is captured by the very people she was sent to destroy. As the sands of Arrakis shift, so too does their fate. In the heat of rebellion, Kara and Nyra are forced into an uneasy alliance, their enemies becoming their greatest allies in a war for freedom. But between the chaos of battle and the ever-present threat of the Sardaukar, their animosity slowly gives way to something far more dangerous: passion. "Crimson Dune: Rebellion of the Heart" is a steamy enemies-to-lovers romance set against the backdrop of a planet on the brink of revolution. As Kara and Nyra navigate the blurred lines of loyalty, love, and survival, they must confront their deepest fears and desires. In a world where alliances are fragile and survival is never guaranteed, can love bloom in the shifting sands of rebellion-or will the weight of their pasts tear them apart before they can ever find peace? A tale of defiance, passion, and the power of choice, "Crimson Dune" will take you on a journey where love is both a weapon and a shield, and the future is as uncertain as the desert winds themselves.

In a dark future, something ancient and immeasurably powerful walks the mutant wastelands... Kensuke is a lowly ashigaru footsoldier in the Tachiyama Clan, one of the few remaining human settlements in a dark, post-apocalyptic future. Thousands of years in the past, deadly nanomutagens were released across Asia, killing hundreds of millions and transforming billions more over subsequent generations. Those who remained immune soon moved into enclaves. In Japan, the feudal system revolving around the samurai class was revived, and resource wars became common. In the present, the Tachiyama Clan is under attack by the brutal Sasagawa Clan whose goal is nothing less than the total subjugation of all remaining human enclaves. Both sides take to the battlefield with human soldiers, robots, and the powerful Augmented Samurai -- cyborg warriors who do battle by plugging into six-meter-tall mecha. Perpetua is at the end of time. She's been here before. The Valkyrie at the End of Time is a story about death and rebirth, frustrated passions, ineffable convictions, and the disorientation of living both in the far future and with the distant past. The Valkyrie at the End of Time is also an experimental, non-linear, "cut-up" story. Except for the Introduction (which is tagged as such), every update ("memory") can be read in any order, and any amount of memories may be omitted. The story updates each Tuesday. These are only half of Perpetua's memories. The other half can be read by subscribing to my Patreon @ https://www.patreon.com/junesayers/
