The Boy the Prairie Kept is a collection about the kind of love that grows wild in familiar places, between gravel roads and wheat fields, under the brim of a worn cowboy hat, in the smell of diesel and fresh cut hay, and in the quiet moments no one else notices.
These poems are about longing for someone who feels as permanent as the prairie itself: a blue collar boy with rough hands and a soft heart hidden beneath sarcasm, gold buckles, Wrangler jeans, and a smile capable of rearranging an entire life. They are about magnetic pull, stolen glances, impossible timing, restrained desire, and the unbearable tenderness of knowing that sometimes two people can belong to each other without ever belonging together.
This collection is less a love story than a haunting, a testament to the people who become part of the landscape of our hearts, impossible to leave behind no matter how many miles lie between us.
Some loves become homes.
Some become ghosts.
This one became the prairie.
