She was right, obviously. I was one of the few girls where I lived to still have both parents around. Parents who loved and cared for me, a life that provided me with good friends and family, and an education...but truthfully, that had never been enough for me. Living every day of my life knowing exactly what was going to happen tomorrow was not living, it was settling. So I packed my things, hopped on a plane and nine hours and 564 miles later I was staring at a map on a wall of JFK. Months went by in a flash and I had no job, no income, and barely any space to call my own.
