It happened to be a while ago when the two first met, Eclair visiting the torn Dark Cacao Kingdom in pursuit of historical knowledge, and Affogato helping the other along the way, partly for his own benefit. Now that the pursuit of the Citadel was over and Affogato failed in properly securing the throne, he had nowhere else to go, just like all those years ago.
